This two day self rescue course looks at all aspects of the technical rope work needed to get yourself out of trouble and avoid an embarrassing Mountain Rescue call out.

From abseiling past a damaged section of rope, to hauling your partner past the crux. We cover key skills that'll build your confidence to tackle bigger mountain adventures.


what we will cover

  • Tying off a belay plate

  • Escaping the system

  • Abseil retreats and rescues (Y-hang/counter balance)

  • Passing a knot on abseil or lower

  • Use of prussiks to ascend a rope

  • Hauling a second

  • Traverse rescues

Who is it for?

Independent climbers who want to learn or improve their technical rescue skills.

MCI candidates who feel they require some more input on their rescue skills before assessment.
